This entry is the latest alphabetical selection of people, places, and things I have photographed through the years. The letter N brings me halfway to Z.
As I waited for inspiration for an N-themed portfolio, a lightbulb moment occurred—it was a neon bulb. This sparked the idea to illuminate the letter N with photos of neon signage. I even featured one from Paris, the City of Light. Additionally, a few images from Route 66 celebrate its upcoming 100th anniversary next year.
NEON NARRATIVES
Prague, Czech Republic swings at a jazz joint on a houseboat. The moon photo was taken from my front porch in Wichita. I overlaid it to complement the improvisation of a jazz combo.
Paris Backstreet showcases one of three images of animated dancers that lit up at intervals, simulating a jitterbug.
Famous Burro highlights the desert outpost of Marathon, the gateway to Big Bend National Park.
Diner, Route 66 captures the irreverence of Delgadillo’s Snow Cap diner located in Seligman, Arizona.
Blue Swallow provides Route 66 trekkers a chance to travel back in time.
NOTRE DAME NARRATIVES
The exterior photo captures the spire that was dramatically destroyed by fire. Both photos were taken in 2009 and reflect the beauty of Notre Dame despite its tragic history.
The Significance of Neon
Neon signs have a rich history in American culture. From bustling cities to quiet towns, these glowing lights marked restaurants, theaters, and motels. Each sign tells a story, often capturing the essence of the places they adorn. For many, neon signs evoke feelings of nostalgia.
Exploring Route 66
Route 66, known as the "Mother Road," has played a significant role in American history. It connects the east and west coasts, offering a unique glimpse of the country’s past. Travelers often seek out diners and motels that showcase neon signs along this iconic route.
The Charm of Historic Locations
The allure of historic locations, like Notre Dame and other landmarks, lies not only in their architectural beauty but also in their stories. Each building has witnessed countless moments in history. The photos I have taken celebrate not just the buildings themselves but the memories they hold.
Preparing for “O”
Looking ahead, my next project will be titled “Oh!” It will feature locations such as Olson House in Maine and Opatija in Croatia. Prepare for stunning visuals that showcase the beauty of these incredible places.

My journey photographing these people, places, and things continues, and I look forward to sharing more stories soon.
